On Saturdays 9:00 AM to 3:30 PM from May through September, Hines Drive is closed to autos from Ann Arbor Trail to Outer Drive.  This provides 6.5 miles of car-free, mostly good pavement for skating (biking, running, etc.)

The skaters typically park at Nankin Mills, off of Hines Drive, just east of Ann Arbor Trail in Westland.

From Ann Arbor, you can get there by going east on 14 (which becomes 96), then South on Farmington. Take the short right on Joy, then left on Hines Drive (seem map link below).

Drive around the first barrier, park in the paved lot on the North side of Hines Drive about 200 yards East of Ann Arbor trail.

At one time, the skaters regularly met here for a 9am group skate.  However, it tends to be more irregular now, and often not until sometime between 10 and 11 am.  Arrangements are typically made at the last minute on the skating-social email list.
