Caroline Bon from Northland successfully defended her title winning the KFC Grilled 2011 NZPWG Anita Boon Pro-Am at North Shore Golf Club. A final round of 1 over par 73 on the testing red course at North Shore sealed her win one shot ahead of NZPWG Board member Susan Farron. Bon took home the $3,700 winners cheque which will help towards getting her to Ladies European Tour School in January. Australian Vicky Thomas slipped back to third position after a second round of 78. Despite not being able to fly the Australian flag Thomas was very positive about the event and is keen to bring even more Australians to the event next year. The day was a success with nine professionals taking home a pay cheque and with a large amount of money having been raised for the NZ Gynaecological Cancer Foundation (exact amount yet to be released). The winning amateur team went to Pam Greenhalgh's team of Roy Montieth, Helen Chegwin and Malcolm Cooper with a combined stableford total of 90. The North Harbour Golf Assocation board members proudly flew the flag - fitting winners given that Anita Boon was a North Harbour representative golfer for many years.

PRESS RELEASE 3rd November 2011: Day one of the KFC Grilled NZPWG 2011 Anita Boon Pro-Am at North Shore
Golf Club proved to be a stunning one not only did the weather do it's
part with the sun coming out for the 1pm shot gun start but the
Australian visitors seemed to be featuring with Vicky Thomas the 35 year
old from Melbourne leading the professional field with a solid 75 which was
quite impressive given the testing pin locations and long holes off the
terracota tees. Sitting a shot behind on 76 are three players:
defending champion Caroline Bon from Northland, and NZPWG board members
Liz McKinnon and Susan Farron. Zoe Nelson from Queensland's Amateur team
of up and coming North Harbour junior girls Anna Reinen, Ela Grimwood
and Anushka Jephson took out the Amateur trophy with a combined
stableford of 84. Tomorrow is set for the final round for the
professionals and it looks to be trans tasman show down between top NZ
locals and Australian Vicky Thomas.

Dear all,
We would like to share with you a one page summary of our achievements in 2010 (please find attached). We are very proud of our results, particularly with a part time work force and a voluntary board. We are certain that these activities have had an impact on the awareness of gynaecological cancers in NZ.
We would like to thank our main sponsors for their generous support. Without you we would cease to exist. Ø CSL Biotherapies Ø Sky City Community Trust Ø Manchester Trust Ø NZ Lotteries Commission Ø DLA Phillips Fox Ø Pub Charity Ø NZ Professional Women’s Golfers Charitable Trust
Due to difficulties sourcing funding for our operational costs for 2011 we will unfortunately need to reduce our activities, however we have done a lot of the hard work this year with the rebrand and generation of materials. We aim to focus predominantly on awareness raising activities in 2011. However, if any trust, person, organization is able to support the NZGCF with funds towards our operational costs we would be most appreciative. This has been an ongoing battle and without this much needed resource we will struggle to continue doing our good work.
We have important messages to share with the women in NZ, these messages may well save a life!
Finally I would like to take this opportunity to thank the board, Giselle, Andrea & Dr Ai Ling Tan, our ambassadors Fi & Beth, administrator Helen and the volunteers, particularly Nicola & Jan. Your hundreds of free hours, determination, commitment and enthusiasm have been truly amazing.
Once again, thank you for your support, and we look forward to communicating again in 2011.
Wishing you safe and happy travels over the Christmas period.
Warmest regards Sarah Sarah Hutchings RNComp, RM, BHSc, MA General Manager New Zealand Gynaecological Cancer Foundation
