Parasidic worms

Plant Parasitic
These nematodes feed directly on plants typically on the roots.  These parasites can devastate crops and ruin fruits in a very short period.  The effects of these parasites can include reduced yield, smaller fruit size, or even death to the plant.

Parasitic to Animals
Nematodes that are parasitic to animals are generally ingested by host.  Few nematodes can enter the body through openings in the skin. Other nematodes are exchanged through hosts, such as mosquitoes.  The host generally ingests the eggs of the nematode which allows the nematode to hatch within the intestines.  Once hatched the nematodes feed on the host and can move throughout the host until a desired location is located.  Many nematodes will continue to breed and lay eggs within the host.  As more and more nematodes hatch more of the host is being devoured until eventually the host is overwhelmed and dies form organ failure, infection, or suffocation.
