    • So you want to start that novel
You've created characters you love—maybe some you love to hate.  Now it's time to get them in trouble and ask: what's at stake?  On-the-spot exercises will bring your characters and your own voice into focus.  Set goals to maintain momentum, and take home tricks—like dialoging with characters—that spark surprises and promise tension on every page.
