I'm a Ph.D. student in social psychology at Yale University. My research is guided by a broad interest in the processes by which people come to rationalize or maintain the (often biased) ways in which they relate to one another. I study these processes from diverse theoretical and methodological perspectives, including basic social cognition and group perception (see Newheiser, Tausch, Dovidio, & Hewstone, 2009, JESP), social-cognitive development (see Newheiser & Olson, 2012, JESP), and meaning maintenance (see Newheiser, Farias, & Tausch, 2011, PAID).
