I am a postdoctoral research fellow at the University of Exeter. My research is guided by a broad interest in the processes by which people come to rationalize or maintain the (often biased) ways in which they relate to one another. I study these processes from diverse theoretical and methodological perspectives, including social cognition and group perception (Newheiser, Tausch, Dovidio, & Hewstone, 2009, JESP; Newheiser, Sawaoka, & Dovidio, 2012, JESP), social-cognitive development (Newheiser & Olson, 2012, JESP), and meaning maintenance (Newheiser, Farias, & Tausch, 2011, PAID).
