Apprenticeship Opportunities Project

Since 1994, ANEW has operated the Apprenticeship Opportunities Project (AOP) with funding from the Office of Port Jobs.

AOP can help King County, Washington state residents who are unemployed or under-employed and seeking work in livable wage jobs or apprenticeships in these ways:

One-to-one, personalized assistance on resumes, job and apprenticeship applications, and interviewing skills
Links to livable wage construction job postings and current apprenticeship openings
Direct connections to employers looking for qualified applicants
Limited Financial Assistance for qualified individuals, such as:
Initiation Fees
Union Dues
Tuition for Math Classes
Work Clothes, Rain Gear, and Boots
Occupation-Specific Tools
Child Care*
Housing*

AOP Mimimum Qualifications

Resident of Seattle or King County
18 years of age or older
Must meet financial qualifications
Pre-apprentice or under-employed apprentice

Your eligibility is determined by an ANEW case manager, and processing your request can take up to 24 hours.

Financial Support

AOP can also provide limited financial support services for eligible clients. These fund are considered funds

of last resort.

This simply means

you have no other resources available

to you when you

apply for assistance.

Pre-Apprentices and Apprentices alike can be eligible for support services for up to three years through AOP.

There is a maximum amount of assistance available in that

time frame, and you

must work with ANEW/AOP staff

by documenting your

job search effort.
