Caleb, first day on the work site

Partway through our first day of work, the cement mixer (which belonged to the developer who'd donated the land) broke - the gear box that holds and tilts the mixer just sheared off. This photo was taken during a break in the action (when our new jobs became helping clear any loose dirt, and moving 3 small but deeply rooted trees that were too close to the slab). The regional Habitat affiliate had a cement mixer, but the motor on theirs didn't work. They ended up taking the working motor off this one and wiring it up to the Habitat mixer, and we were back at work on cement duty the next day.

High Stick ??

A couple more pics from the IceHogs - Checkers game. For the first time this year there were 2 Referees working the game in Rockford. Let me see... Stick above the shoulder.. stick hitting the shield... Nope, I guess that is not considered a "High Stick".. you would think with 2 sets of eyes things like this would be caught by at least one of the Refs... The Hogs lost that night to a good team, 4-2
