I work as an Assistant Professor at the Department of Electronics and at the Graduate Program in Electrical Engineering and Industrial Informatics, both located at Federal University of Technology - Paraná (Curitiba - Brazil).
I completed my Master's and Doctorate in Electrical Engineering (with emphasis on Intelligent Systems) at the Federal Technological University of Paraná (in 2010 and 2015, respectively) under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Hugo Vieira Neto (in memoriam), Dr. Rodrigo Jardim Riella (master), and Dr. Vitor Hugo Ferreira (doctorate). During my doctorate, I worked as a visiting researcher at TU Delft (Netherlands) under the supervision of Prof. Dr. David M. J. Tax. I also worked as a researcher at Lactec (Curitiba/PR) between 2007 and 2015. In 2021, I worked on the founding of an artificial intelligence startup (Dataplai).
My undergraduate teaching activities are concentrated in electrical circuits, analog electronics, signal processing, and machine learning (more info here). In graduate courses, the subjects include machine learning and deep learning (more info here).
My research focuses on pattern recognition (machine learning and deep learning) with applications in electrical power systems, renewable energy, industrial processes, embedded systems, biomedical systems, image processing, and video analysis. More information here!
I also serve as Topical Editor of the IEEE Sensors journal and Associate Editor for the IEEE Sensors Letters.
You can find me at CPGEI (UTFPR, Curitiba, Brazil), D-Block, 3rd floor (map).
