Mexico

Some of the better pictures from my September trip with April to her parent's place on Lake Chapala, Mexico. A more textual description can be found on my blog. 9.4.6 - 9.11.6

Three views from the lake side of the Smith house just outside Jocotepec on Lake Chapala. The hummingbirds liked to divebomb anyone standing too close to the feeder. Cheeky little buggers.

Another lake view from slightly higher up the mountain; Jerry in front of a trachea and lungs at an 8500ft elevation O.J. stop; A big dork in his rain suit at the same place.

Breakfast in front of an old brick cathedral; The bell towers; Back up the street from the square in front of the cathedral.

After breakfast in the same town; Later on that ride - Power Rangers are Go! The signature hole at the beautiful golf course where Jerry plays.

April and me before the cocktail party; Sharon, Jerry, April and me; At a pier in Chapala

Another ride, and an interesting building in the square; our three identical Kawasaki KLR 650s (Motorcycle Ray joined us); a tiny former mining town at the dead end of a 40 mile road w/ no turn offs and almost 400 curves.

Some pictures going back up the mountain from the dead-end town - that's about the longest stretch of road without a corner for 40 miles; looking back and down about 1000ft to the town, only another 3000 to climb out of the valley; some of the peaks we weaved around and between.

On Saturday there was a kind of paper hot air baloon festival. Lots of different shapes and sizes.

Unfortunately, most of the biggest and best paper balloons burnt up like fourth of July fireworks, sending flaming remnants down onto houses, trees, and the crowd below. Now that's what I call fun!
