TRADING

Egyptians enjoyed the many things they had from their own country, but they were not fully satisfied with just that.
That desire for the many different things caused the ancient Egyptians to create trade routes. Usually they would get things from around the Mediterranean sea, because they had many of the things that the Egyptians desired.
At various times in their history, the ancient Egyptians set up trade routes to Cyprus, Crete, Greece, Syro-Palestine, Punt, and Nubia. some of the things that the Egyptians imported were including leopard skins, giraffe tails, monkeys, cattle, ivory, ostrich feathers and eggs, and gold. Land travel was time consuming and dangerous, because they could have been attacked. Donkeys were really the only transport and pack animals for a very long time, until horses were introduced to the Egyptians by other countries. The ancient Egyptians exported many crops such as flax. Trading, was a very successful business in Egypt.
