Mummification is the process in which the ancient Egyptians used to preserve the dead, so that they woul
dn't rot! Before you could put the body anywhere for burial, you had to go through the preservation process. An embalmer took care of this. First they would break the skull, and take out the brain, organs, and everything else - that is except for the heart! Next, you had to put the body in a natron solution which would dry the body out. Next is the fun part! You get to wrap the body from head to toe with linen bandages. Pharaohs who died would bring many belongings into the tomb with them believing that in the afterlife they would need those things in order to be comfortable.
