Anatomy & physiology are the study of the what and the how of an organism. That is, how it does what it does, and what structures allow it to accomplish these functions. During this class we will look specifically at the human organism. First we will look at Homo sapiens place ecologically and systematically, to gain an understanding of where we as a species have come from and where we are now. Then we will spend time examining the types of cells and tissues that comprise humans, and indeed all mammals. Once we establish this base of knowledge we will look at the organs of the body by grouping them into organ systems and examining each system in turn. For instance the skeletal system or the cardiovascular system. Throughout this course students will be required to perform several dissections. If dissections are not your cup of tea I suggest that you do not take this class.
