What is Shamanism?

SHAMANISM

Shamanism is a Spiritual Practice that some historians say has existed for over 40,000 years and is known as the oldest Healing Tradition in the world. Historically, the Shaman was someone who acted as a medium between the Spiritual and physical worlds, through various rituals. Today the process is observed as a way that one can return to his/her roots through one's natural surroundings.

Shamanism is a practice that existed on every continent around the world, so every one of our ancestors practiced it. It is a personal Spiritual practice, and is not a religion. Shamanism has no leader and has no rules. A religion always has a dictatorial figure mandating morality. In Shamanism, there is no such thing. What you follow is your God within you. There is none without. We project outwardly on 'them' or 'him' what we in fact are afraid to admit is within us.

By accepting responsibility for being human and acknowledging that you are the master of your own universe, by acting on your inner voice, vision and sense of right and wrong (for you), your inner Truth, you are in the flow, in the real. This leads to genuine knowledge of your inner self.

The word Shaman originated among the Siberian Tungus and literally means 'he or she who knows.' So the Shaman is someone who travels to the non-ordinary states of reality to obtain information or healing on behalf of themselves or a community member, or the community at large.

Shamanism is always evolving to serve the people of today, and that's why it is still blossoming today. If Shamans weren't good at what they did, the communities would not have been interested in those practices, and they would not have survived.

The commonality amongst all people practicing Shamanism is journeying. In some cultures, they use a rattle, in some a drum. The drum is even called the Shaman's horse. The sound of the drum helps to change our consciousness to the Theta state, where we become more open to the Spirit world.

The Shamanic psychological paradigm for our reality is of: the upper, middle and lower worlds. Traveling in the middle world, Shamans of the past, would look for lost objects, or to find out where the buffalo were at that moment, to help the hunters.

In journeying, coming up with a clear intention of what you want to find and a good question is key. This is your reason for contacting the Spirit. It gives clear direction to the journey and a successful result. If there is no powerful, clear intent and question, you may just roam aimlessly and waste your time. There has to be fair exchange of energy. The level of passion on which you offer yourself in the process is the level on which you will receive results.

The healing that the world needs now is to reconnect with nature, in all meanings of the word. The natural Earth environment, as well as our inner human nature. Religion has said that humanity and nature are fundamentally corrupt and therefore rightfully cut off from God.

I have found that that is a terrible lie. This thought alone is responsible for the corruption of anything. When you journey to your center, to your root, you will see that you are rooted in Light, Love, God and everything is available in abundance on planet Earth, if we were to ask for it.

Shamanism is how we initially connected with the Spirit in all things. That re-connective practice is still available. It didn't die with our ancestors. We can freely practice it today and get beneficial, healing, enlightening results.

In my practice as a Spiritual Counselor and Healer, I use Shamanic Journeying extensively, in order to help people find answers to their life long questions, find solutions to everyday and existential problems, and relief from mental and emotional anxiety and negativity.

In the Shamanic Healing Circles, I oversee the facilitate and oversee people taking personal journeys or partnering up and journeying for each other, for information and healing. You can find any answer in any area of your life: Spiritual, Mental, Career, Social, Romantic, Financial, Physical, Family.

When in the old days, you would want travel to see where the buffalo is, today you would travel to find where your next job is, where is that apartment or that room mate or that romantic partner that you have been looking for. Or if you're not sure what to do in your life, travel to discover what your passion is, and what does it look like in the form of service. If you have chronic financial problems, take a journey to find out what is blocking your cash-flow and what abundant freedom looks like for you.

There is no limit to where you can go and what you can know.

Happy travels!
