Whole Wheat/Oatmeal Chocolate Chip Cookies Whole Wheat Oatmeal and Chocolate Chip Cookies 3/4 cup butter or shortening (I use butter-flavored Crisco) 1 cup brown sugar, firmly packed 1/2 cup white sugar 1 teaspoon baking powder 1/4 teaspoon baking soda 2 large eggs 1 teaspoon vanilla extract 1 3/4 cups whole wheat pastry flour 2 cups rolled oats 1 cup chocolate chips Salt – Toll House recipe calls for 1 teaspoon Preheat oven to 375°. Use a mixer to beat butter/shortening in a large mixing bowl; add sugars, baking powder and baking soda, and blend well. Add eggs and vanilla, mixing until combined. Finally, mix in the flour, and gradually add the oatmeal and lastly the chocolate chips. If the mixture forms individual dry clumps, try adding a little water. Roll dough into tablespoon-sized balls, and place about 2-inches apart on a cookie sheet (I highly recommend the insulated sheets, or use two sheets layered on top of each other with the cookies on the top sheet). Bake for 10-12 minutes until the tops are brown. Let sit for several minutes before removing to cool on a wire rack. I made this recipe for the first time and couldn't pinpoint what was "off". The original recipe did not call for the addition of any salt and that was it! They taste good; but would have been better with the salt. The Nestle cookie recipe calls for 1 teaspoon and the ingredient amounts are similar. Eat Me

I said I wasn't going to play this week but then I was baking (which I have to do when its cloudy) and I thought I better share this recipe bc its soo goood! These cookies melt in your mouth!! The oats make you feel full and happy! (I dont even like oatmeal) My kids really love them and your kids will love them too. Trust me 1 cup Crisco****** (most important part) 1 cup brown sugar 1 cup white sugar 2 eggs well beaten 1 Tablespoon vanilla 1 1/2 cup flour 1 tsp salt 1 tsp baking soda 1 Tablespoon cinnamon (which is kind of a lot. so you can do less if you want) 3 cups oats (we use Quaker Quick or Old Fashioned. Do NOT use instant.) 1 12oz bag NESTLE TOLL HOUSE Morsels Cream shortening and sugars, add eggs and vanilla and beat well. Sift flour, salt, baking soda and cinnamon. Add to first mixture and mix well. Add raisins and nuts. Add oats last. (it will be difficult to mix at the end!) Spoon out by rounded tablespoonfuls on to greased cookie sheets. Bake at 350°F. Bake for 10 minutes. Remove to wire rack. Cool completely. SKIP THE MILK AND SERVE W/A LARGE GLASS OF WHITE ZIN WINE.
