Welcome! I am a Ph.D. student in the Department of Fish and Wildlife Conservation at Virginia Tech in Blacksburg, Virginia. I am interested in human dimensions of fisheries and wildlife, which involves using social science to answer questions about people's values, attitudes and beliefs toward wildlife and the environment. I also am interested in the human-nature relationship as how human activities impact wildlife.
My dissertation research involves collaborating with the Virginia Department of Game and Inland Fisheries to learn more about recreational use on their public lands and opinions about land management issues held by stakeholders and agency employees. I am using co-orientation theory to analyze the communicative relationship between the agency and its stakeholders and provide recommendations for improving communication and public relations efforts.
