I love wool hats, but they often leave me with an itchy, acne-prone forehead and flattened hair. Inspired by a gift of hand-dyed yarn, I set to work designing this head covering to ward off the chilly autumn air. Worn like a headband but with the added warmth of a hat, Rosie invokes the "we can do it!" spirit of her namesake without crushing your "do."

The form-fitting shape of this kerchief is created with short rows. If you haven't worked short rows, you can find help learning this technique here-- she describes it for socks but it is exactly the same as needed for this pattern. If a video is more your style, scroll down this page to the Short Row with Wrap video. Excellent!
w&t= wrap and turn
wyif= with yarn in front
To adjust size, increase or decrease the number of sts cast on by a multiple of 4, which will alter the size approximately 1 inch per 4sts. After completing the headband, cast off the number of sts needed so that 64 sts remain.
