Amrit Sharma did Electrical and Electronic Engineering at Imperial College London and obtained an MEng degree in 2006. He was awarded both the IET Prize and the Terry Whodcoat Memorial Prize for being the top graduate in the MEng Technical course as well as the graduate with the best final year project. He then went on to win the Imperial College Scholarship for PhD research.

In December 2007 he was awarded the Royal Academy of Engineering Fellowship based on his PhD research in 2006-2007 and in 2008 he won the gold medal at the Young European Arena of Research (YEAR).

In 2009, Amrit completed his PhD in Control Engineering. He's currently a research associate in the Control Engineering Group at The University of Oxford.
