Words - so innocent and powerless as they are, as standing in a dictionary, how potent for good and evil they become in the hands of one who knows how to combine them.

 -Nathaniel Hawthorne

Why do I write?

I write for those rare moments when the words flow from me like destiny and fill the page with such eloquence and emotion that I am overwhelmed. I write because it is the one arena where I have total control; success or failure is a direct extension of myself. I write because it allows me the opportunity to feign godliness; I am a deity in my own fabricated world, creating and manipulating the fates of its inhabitants.
