| Author's words (1):
Buddha's teaching makes us realize the genuine fact and truth of the universe and our life.
There is an intention in my mind about integrating Buddha's teacching, oil painting and calligraphy into a new form of oil painting art.
Due to the fact that I am not a graduate of formal art school, I don't expect any success of mundane form. All I have embraced is a faith, as Dharma sister Chiu said "what can I do for Buddhism?", in the mean time, I undertake calligraphy painting as my own way of meditation practice.
Venerable Xinde collected Buddhist art works of various era in the past and exhibit them. he commented my works as of a style belonging to the future.
My journey ahead is long, however, it is my way of spiritual practice, and most of all, my aspiration.
Look forward to your comments.
Amituofo
Author's words (2):
The pictograph letters which our ancestors invented is the most beautiful and most variable script in the world. Through integrating with the color-abundance nature of oil painting, it is then developing into a new style of painting art.
In September 2009, I took part in the "caring & loving" art competition held in Auckland and won the first prize. The work that won me this prize was the four Chinese characters of "Amituofo" written over a musical stave. These characters look like calligraphy and resemble a painting as well. All the five judges unanimously ruled this work first prize.
Winning first prize proves to me that spreading Buddhism by means of a new style of art has been appreciated and assured. It encourages me to paint more for the purpose of preaching Buddhism in one hand, and promoting the Chinese calligraphy art in another. I am willing to devote in spreading Buddha's teachings by means of the new art; in passing Shakyamuni Buddha's true perception of the universe and life onto more human beings. |
