AMIGO AMBLERS VOLKSSPORT CLUB

EL PASO, TEXAS

AVA-769

CLUB INFORMATION

Chartered in May, 1992, the Amigo Amblers is incorporated in Texas as a non-profit organization.  As a member of the American Volkssport Association (AVA), the Amigo Amblers maintains a non-profit, charitable status by sponsoring and promoting volksmarching.  The club is governed by a board of officers elected annually by the members.  All functions involved with the conduct of club business and sanctioned events are performed by volunteers.  There are no paid employees.

The Amigo Amblers sponsors four Year-Round volksmarches in the El Paso area.  Year-Round Events (YRE) are permanently established so you can participate anytime throughout the year, as many times as you desire.  For detailed information see Year-Round Events.

The club also sponsors monthly group walks, usually a Saturday for September through May, rotating the location of the walk among the four YRE sites.  We walk as a group over the selected route.  After the walk there is usually a no-host refreshment/luncheon gathering at a convenient restaurant.

Participation in any of the group walks or Year-Round events does not require club membership.  For the schedule of group walks, see Group Walks.

Membership in the Amigo Amblers is open to all, regardless of race, creed, color, religion, national origin, or status.  If you are interested in becoming a member, e-mail your name and address to the Club President for an application/information request form.

April 2009 - In spite of national media coverage, walking in the El Paso area has not been affected by the violence in nearby Juarez, Mexico. No walks go into Mexico - but you can see it from most of the current walk routes. All walks are limited to daylight hours. We, as local walkers, continue to enjoy the walks and hope you will choose to join us.
