Welcome

If Ames is to be the welcoming,
thriving community
we all know it can be,
every citizen and every institution
must be actively involved in
identifying and dismantling
the barriers that separate us
from one another.
As a start, we need opportunities
to get to know one another...

How can you help make Ames a stronger community?

We believe that Ames can become a stronger community by providing an opportunity for people to get to know one another. The Community Conversations on Diversity (CCDC) is a volunteer effort to provide opportunities for residents of Ames to talk with other residents that they wouldn’t ordinarily talk to.

CCDC has been coordinating the organization of community conversations to bring diverse individuals
together for discussion.

You can help by joining a conversation group, an Action Team. Please consider taking this opportunity to get to know more about your fellow community members by contacting amescommunityconversations@gmail.com .

Please consider whether you, or an organization you belong to, would be willing to get involved and help make Ames a stronger community.

What is the Community Conversations on Diversity Initiative website?

As an initial step in this effort, CCDC has coordinated the organization of community conversations to bring diverse individuals together for discussion. The Community Conversations on Diversity Initiative website is meant to foster this type of effort to organize conversations to bring diverse individuals together to discuss their sense of belonging in Ames.

Please feel free to navigate through the website. A mission statement, list of goals and various other important tools will be added as they become available.
