RECIPES FOR COOKING TUNA : JAPANESE COOKING SHOW : COOKING FRIED POTATOES Recipes For Cooking Tuna
365.301 - "Grandma's" Tuna Slice In part due to my geographical (and emotional) seperation from my family. I've never really had any recipes passed down to me. Our friends Ian & Chris who are kind of like family gave me this recipe for Tuna Slice (which Chris's mother gave to her). It made me feel a little special really :) And I suppose one day I will pass it down to the girls (provided at least one ends up with my love of cooking). Tuna Slice: 450gram tin of tuna 2 cups grated cheese (cheddar or tasty) pinch of parsley (dried although fresh could work) 1 cup crushed dry biscuits - I used savoury shapes but something like ritz crackers could work. lemon juice - just a squeeze! 1/2 teaspoon salt (or if your me a quick grind) 3 eggs - beaten 1 cup milk 1 diced onion Method: Mix well press into tray and bake in a 350 degree (180 degree fan forced) for 45 minutes. This was a bit too long! It's meant to be golden brown... not charcoalish brown ;) Served with oven fries and roasted asparagus. Roasted asparagus is easy - snap off the woody end, place on a banking tray, drizzle with olive oil, season and roast in a 180 degree oven for 10 minutes. Tuna Rice Pie - Recipe
Tuna Rice Pie (serves 4) 1 cup of uncooked Rice (whatever kind you like -long grain, white, yellow) 6-8 ounces of Tuna (I use the drain free packets) 1 egg 2 cups of shredded Cheddar cheese (or cheese of choice) 12 oz of Tomato sauce 1/2 a yellow onion chopped dash of fresh ground pepper dash of crushed red pepper Pre heat oven to 350 degrees 1st you make the rice (follow rice directions) Then mix the rice with 1 egg throughly put rice mixture on the bottom of the cassarole dish Then put a layer of all the Tuna Then the all the cheese then mix the sauce with the chopped onion (my mom puts in chopped celery too but that is optional) Top the casserole off with the sauce mixture Then season the top with desired amount of pepper and crushed red pepper Bake at 350 degrees for 30-35 minutes This dish is great b/c you can prep it ahead of time and then just pop it in the oven later in the day. It is soooo YUMMY!
