The Garden Club started out as an organization to spruce up the village of Ameliasburgh.  It all began in 1982 with a small group of nine members. 
   From the start the Club was involved with the Ameliasburgh Fair, donating prizes, entering a parade float, setting up a floral display, and overseeing the Floral Division.  Several community gardens were started, tended and cared for by doing spring and fall clean-ups and providing plant material. In 1992 the Club planted a Sunburst Honey Locust  Tree on the Museum grounds  for their 10th anniversary.
   Today the Ameliasburgh Museum gardens are cared for with heritage plants in mind while upgrading soils and techniques. Memory plantings will be added this year for passed on members.
   The Ameliasburgh Library and Purdy Lane planters are planted and tended.
   We have planted trees at Massassaga- Rednersville School and last  year at Ameliasburgh Community Park.
   Our executive enjoys a business meeting each  month when we make our schedule and plans to bring to the membership.
   We offer a Bursary for any student in Prince Edward/Hastings area who is registered in a University and studying Horticulture.
   Today the Club has 60 members who enjoy the monthly gatherings where guest speakers provide advice, information, slide shows and products from local nurseries.
   Seasonal plant competitions with prizes, plant auctions and garden tours with strawberry socials are part of the fun and enjoyment.  In our membership we now have 7 Master Gardeners.
   We welcome guests and members at the Historic Village of Ameliasburgh. A light lunch and beverage is provided.
   This is our 26th year with plans to continue growing and gardening together.
