RESEARCH:  My research endeavors to date have been focused on phytoplankton ecology, primarily with respect to harmful algae bloom forming species or HABs.  I am especially interested in the ecosystem wide impacts of HABs.  My current masters thesis work involves analyzing the nutrient regime of a red tide forming HAB, Cochlodinium polykrikoides, occuring in the estuaries of eastern Long Island, NY.

Other research includes work under the Stony Brook-Southampton Coastal and Estuarine Research Program (SCERP).  I am investigating the causes and impacts associated with eutrophication of the Forge River Estuary.
