I am the Lead Researcher of the report 'PAISA 2010: Do Schools Get Their Money?', an innovative annual report which analyzes critical questions, such as a) Do Schools Get the Grants they are supposed to get?, b) When do they get these grants?, c) Do they get all the grants?, and d) How do they spend it? We have also estimated how much money would be required to implement the Right to Education (RTE) Act in India. The report is based on a survey of 13,000 government schools spread across rural India and conducted through ASER. Take a look at the report here. The Report was launched on March 14, 2010. The event included a panel discussion. Panelists were Nandan Nilekani, Chairman of Unique Identification Authority of India, T.R. Raghunandan, a well-respected ex- IAS officer who has launched an interesting project, 'I Paid a Bribe', Madhav Chavan, Founder and Director of PRATHAM, the largest NGO involved in the education sector in India, and Jai Panda, Member of Lok Sabha from the state of Orissa. |
