Come to the Amateur Performance Night to enjoy presentations and performances on a wide variety of subjects, and practice your languages (Chinese and English) while you do! Come and just listen or do some talking yourself - present your pet project or read from your favorite writing.
Every third Thursday of the month, Chinese and English-language hobbyists, lecturers, poets, story-tellers, comedians, writers, actors and other (aspiring) artists can present, read or perform their own material or pieces from other artists at the Amateur Performance Night - and anyone can come and watch.
Dates: January 18, February 8, March 15
Time: 7pm to 8pm*
Location: Room 109, No.2 Dongping Lu, between Hengshan Lu and Yue Yang Lu (Room 109 is at No.2 opposite the Chinese restaurant next to Simply Thai)
The entry fee of 20 RMB includes a drink and small snack.

Details for presentors/performers
Presentors/performers, please register in advance, so that we can plan the evening and present you to the audience. Please send your details to amateur.performance.night@gmail.com including the title, type (e.g. lecture, essay, story, poetry, comedy, drama), language (English or Chinese) and length (max. 10 minutes) of your performance.
1) Performances can be in English or Mandarin Chinese.
2) Performers can read their own material, or material from other artists (e.g. poets, writers).
3) Performances revolve around the spoken word, but can include music and images, for which a projection screen and equipment will be available if you request beforehand.
4) Performances can be as short as a few seconds or as long as 10 minutes, maximum.
5) All levels of performance are welcomed and applauded.
6) Performers and other artists may offer their work (book etc.) for sale to the audience.
7) If there is time left, performers can do a second set after the break.
8) Performers have to be present on location before start-time at 7pm. ![]() |
