Do you spend a lot of your 'valuable' office hours on blogs, YouTube or other similar websites?
Have you ever felt that there should be some means to control your browsing habits?
Then you should have some SelfControl.
SelfControl is an extension to Firefox browser that will warn you when you open one of those time-wasting pages during office hours.

You can customize the time period for each page separately. (You might want to block YouTube for the full day but read those blogs after lunch). If you really want to waste time (when your manager is on leave, for instance ) you can temporarily disable SelfControl by clicking the toggle button on the toolbar.
You can install SelfControl from the Firefox Add-ons website. Firefox will ask you to restart the browser to complete the installation; you can safely restart Firefox. Your browsing session will be restored with all the tabs as such.
After you have successfully installed SelfControl, go to Tools|Options to open the Firefox preferences window and select SelfControl tab. You will find that some of the common addictive websites have been already added to the list. You can add other websites if you want. (I bet you'd have a long list if you have managed to find this page by yourself ). Enter the URL of the website that you want to block, edit the from and to values (in 12 hour format - hh:mm am/pm) to reflect your needs and click on the Add button. Once you have added URLs of all those time wasting webpages, click on the OK button. You will be warned when you open any of those pages next time. You can open the SelfControl preferences window by clicking the short cut icon on the bottom-right corner of Firefox status bar.
Note: Make sure that you enter the home page URL of the website; otherwise you will be blocking only a particular page of that site. For example, if you want to block YouTube you should enter www.youtube.com rather than www.youtube.com/watch?v=lYVLpC_8SQE. The second one will block only that particular video. Also, some websites will be automatically redirected to a different URL than that was enetered in the address bar: for example YouTube sometimes opens as in.youtube.com even if you type www.youtube.com in the address bar. So to be on the safe side, just add youtube.com. Similarly orkut.com and orkut.co.in -- add both of them. The program basically looks for the occurance of each keyword in the loaded URL and warns when a match is found.
