, 9th June 2009
HarperCollins Childrens Books UK today announced a four-book deal for UK and Commonwealth (exc.Canada) rights from Harper US for The Amanda Project, the first multi-platform, interactive, digital mystery for teens. 4th Story Media, which owns all rights to the property, will produce the content for The Amanda Project with a creative team including web design agency Happy Cog, young adult authors, artists and graphic designers.

Amanda Valentino is the elusive, charismatic, and alluring new girl at Endeavour High who arrives mid-year, leaves abruptly and indelibly changes the lives of everyone around her in the process.

Her story will be told across a variety of media in addition to the books – a social networking website where readers can interact with and become characters in the mystery, a related series of blogs chronicling the story as it unfolds, clues and seed posts on satellite sites, downloadable music and official and user-generated merchandise. Amanda’s fate will begin to unfold across the web in the summer of 2009 through the launch of the TAP website, and continue into publication of the first book, The Amanda Project — INVISIBLE I, in October 2009.

HarperCollins Children’s Books UK Publishing Director for Fiction, Rachel Denwood, who acquired the titles added,

“We’re delighted to join our US colleagues and 4th Story Media on this fantastic venture, the first of its kind for teenage girls. Each element is brilliantly conceived and delivered, but it was the quality of the books that got me so excited about this series. A pitch-perfect voice, a really strong and unusual story - plus cool, compelling characters: this is commercial teen fiction at its very best.”

Amanda Valentino is the most mysterious, the most magnetic girl you’ll never meet. If you join THE AMANDA PROJECT you just might find out what happened to her…

Who is Amanda really? And why did she vanish?

When Amanda Valentino started at Endeavor High on Halloween, she changed everything. A fabulous mix of the weird and the wonderful, Amanda was the most extraordinary student ever.

Amanda had secret friendships with three other students: Callie, Hal and Nia – the popular girl, the loner and the intellectual misfit. Without Amanda they would never had been friends, but now Amanda has disappeared and it’s up to them to find out what happened.

Reluctantly, and with only the most cryptic of clues and the fragments of her life that Amanda let slip, this unlikely trio must find out where she’s gone, and why...

WILL YOU HELP US FIND HER?
