The Rev. Amanda Aikman has served Unitarian Universalist churches in Cleveland, Ohio; and in Marysville, Port Angeles, and Kirkland, Washington. She is currently (2012) minister at Skagit Unitarian Universalist Fellowship in Mount Vernon, WA, and at South Fraser Unitarian Congregation in Surrey, BC.
Amanda is a Spiritual Director (also known as Spiritual Companion), and a Joyfulness Consultant, helping individuals and groups add joy to their everyday lives. She is the author of the 2010 book, Full-Spectrum Joyfulness, from Spirit of Life Publishing.
She has won many national sermon contests, including a Templeton competition for works on science and religion, and the prestigious Borden sermon contest. Amanda is a playwright, with 15 short plays – mostly comedies – produced in the Seattle area since 2002. Her latest play, a full-length drama called The Peregrine Sonata, was produced by Driftwood Players in Edmonds, WA in January, 2012 as their annual selection for the Spotlight on a Local Playwright series.
Before entering the ministry in 1993 with an M.Div. from Starr King School for the Ministry, Amanda worked in publishing and advertising in New York City, and in community action in Roanoke, Virginia. Her interests include science fiction, salsa music, comedy, NIA dance, and stand-up paddle surfing.
