Another Year — A New Role — Same Sigma Tau Delta

By Stephanie Schiefelbein

Once you’re in Sigma Tau Delta, it’s hard to leave. After four years as an undergraduate member of Sigma Tau Delta and two years as national Student Advisor (2008-2010), I knew that I needed to stay connected to the organization after college graduation. Alumni Epsilon, and more specifically the Associate Alumni Representative leadership position, provided me with that opportunity. Recently elected as the Associate Alumni Representative at the 2010 International Convention in St. Louis, MO, I am enthusiastically looking forward to continuing my involvement with Sigma Tau Delta.

As Associate Alumni Representative, I endeavor to assist with the formation and fulfillment of the goals of the Alumni Epsilon Committee. Objectives that I would specifically like to pursue include more clearly outlining the limitations and benefits of alumni membership, facilitating a greater sense of community among Alumni Epsilon members, and creating more avenues for mentorship with the student members of Sigma Tau Delta. The 2010 Convention marked the inaugural Resume Workshop. It is my hope that this is only the first of many events designed to inspire improved communication between alumni and student members.

As I approach college graduation, tackle the job search and prepare for major turning points, I am thankful that Sigma Tau Delta will continue to be a constant thread in my life. I look forward to communicating with Alumni Epsilon members, and taking an active role in the future direction and advancement of the Alumni Epsilon Chapter of Sigma Tau Delta. Thank you!
