The crazed tornadoes hit Alabama 4/27/11 wreaking havoc and killing people. Luckily, my area was relatively unscathed. I didn't even lose power... till the next day. I lost power on 4/28/11 and poor Alabama Power thinks I'll get it fixed by the 1st at the earliest since they are so overwhelmed at the moment. *sigh* So I'm camping in my TransVan camper. I'm powering it and some other stuff the following way: 1kW Yamaha EF1000iS Gasoline Generator : Transvan (laptop, cell charger, lights, fan), stuff in house (cable modem, wifi AP, another laptop and ipod charger, oscillating fan) Chevy Astro Van + Power Drive 2000 2kW Inverter : Fridge/Freezer side-by-side in the ground floor kitchen, upright freezer in the basement (together they pull 490w. Had to start in sequence due to initial power draws overloading the inverter) If I still have no power Saturday, I'm gonna run my plasma TV and Roku box off my generator and watch some Netflix :D Our water heater is natural gas, so its really not so bad, other than having to pay for gasoline.

If so these are the oscillating desk fans for you! --------------- Its very unusual to see any new goods left out unattended like this - maybe yesterdays warm weather will have tempted someone to buy one - but surely last years scorching summer here (in the UK) will mean most people already have one and its not like it'll have been used much this year.
