Engine and driveline

The machine was purchased with a bad apex transmission, the formsrag clutches were in bad shape as
well.  The engine did run but not very well.    (click on images for larger view)

The Apex transmission was dissasembled and the bearings and seals were replaced.  The forward and reverse drive gear were also replaced. The other gears are in fair condition and I am still trying to find replacements without having to have them made. If you have any apex parts let me know !!!    The formsprag clutches were also rebuilt with new bearings from a bearing house. The frame was cleaned and painted. The engine had good compression but I rebuilt the tillotson carburator and installed new points, wires, and plugs. After timing the engine I was able to make it run better.  It does overheat yet after long use and I think there is an airleak in the lower end causing it to lean out. Still need to work on this problem.

Here some some pictures of the completed drivetrain assembly.  Custom brackets were made for the gas tank and battery.    This completed the drivetrain work for now.  I moved on to the lower bodywork after this.
