Hey! I’m Amanda Brinkerhoff, a Senior (ek!) from Summit, New Jersey. I’m thrilled to spend my days here at Santa Clara filled with sunshine and amazing people (especially in Graham!). I am a Marketing major and this is my second year being a CF in ALPHA. You will catch me rooting for the New York Yankees because baseball is my favorite sport. Although I have a lot of east coast pride, particularly NJ and New York, I see myself working on the west coast after graduation. Please come by and say hi because I love to chat. Many of my friends call me, “Verizon” for always talking. I can’t wait for an awesome year! Graham 300 Student Leaders Hi! I’m Mary Northey and I live in Graham 300. I’m currently enjoying my last year at Santa Clara as an undergraduate student, still loving learning and taking courses from the long list that makes up my very own, homemade major. It’s called Education Policy and Politics, and it’s a combination of philosophy, psychology, and political science classes. I’m originally from Bellevue, Washington, where I left my big family and my beautiful golden retriever, Annie. I am a big fan of The Office, drinking coffee, all things Vienna, and old Hollywood musicals. I’m a reader and a writer—so if you’re ever interested in getting an extra opinion on your latest musings, come to me—or better yet, make a visit to the HUB Writing Center, where I work as a writing tutor! I also love making personal music discoveries, dancing in my room (and on the stage), watching lots and lots of movies, and spending time with the lovely people I’m surrounded by everyday. Come by and say hi! Joel Gaspar is a Junior from the distant land of San Jose, California. He loves everything about the Bay Area that he just couldn’t leave, he especially couldn’t leave his mothers home-cooking. Joel is a Marketing major in the Leavey School of Business as well as a Communications minor. He has been considered one of the biggest sports fanatics you will ever meet at SCU. Joel is part Mexican with a dash of Native American. He plays sports whenever he has the opportunity to, and can be found playing basketball in the Malley Fitness Center. Other interests include spending too much time looking for the newest music, hanging out with friends, and striving to become the world’s strongest man. Friends and family are the most important things to him. He likes to go out and have a good time and is always looking to make new friends. Joel is not a fan of the one-arm hugs, however he will participate in a sarcasm war or two. In his third year within the Graham complex, Joel is an experienced veteran and is in room 311 to answer any and all questions anyone may have. Graham 200 Student LeadersLauren Bothereau is a senior communication (film production) major/religious studies minor who comes from sunny Southern California, where she spends more time at the beach and Disneyland than she does her own home. Lauren is a fan of musical theater, the 80's, Christmas time, seafood, Arrested Development, and buying people random gifts. She is definitely NOT a fan of cheese, PT Cruisers, doctors' offices, and the sound of people chewing. This is Lauren's second year as a CF, but first year living in Graham, so she is very excited to meet everyone and be a part of the awesome ALPHA community! Stop by room 220 where the candy dish is always stocked and Disney movies are always on. :) Hey everybody!, my name is Tim, I’m a senior biology major with minors in Chemistry, biotechnology, and political science (don’t worry I still have fun). I hails from the small town of Damascus, Oregon, a little ways outside of Portland. I spends much of his time researching evolutionary biology in Professor Whittall’s lab, I spent this past summer on a research trip in Alaska (beautiful by the way). Outside of academic interests I enjoy watching college football (Go Beavers!) and watching movies. This is my second year as a CF and my fourth in Alpha. I look forward to ending my Santa Clara career with a bang! Graham 100 Student LeadersI'm Justine Macauley from Hillsborough, California just outside of San Francisco. I am a senior history major with an English minor and get very excited about my education. This is my second year as a CF in Alpha and my fourth year living in Graham. I love reading and writing both for school and in my spare time, as well as baking pies, talking and hanging out with friends in the residence halls and off campus, watching TV shows like The Office and Lost, and being as involved with the Alpha community as I possibly can!
HEY! I'm Matt Frankenstein and I am the Community
Facilitator in Graham 100 (Yes that actually is my real last name and yes I love it). I am thoroughly enjoying my Sophomore year at Santa Clara and cannot wait to
I grew up in San Jose and Los Gatos. My family, full of art-making, reading, cooking and boisterous conversation, is one of my favorite things about life. My parents and three siblings are my dearest friends.Davidson College (North Carolina) offered me a home that I loved for four years. I played field hockey there, captaining my D1 team in my senior season. I still miss my teammates in very special and ongoing way. While in college, I majored in Studio Art and Minored in Spanish. I spent a semester in Ecuador. It changed my heart and my mind. Learning the language had a great impact on my connection to my own Latina identity. After graduating, I traveled to Spain and Panama, waited tables in Santana Row, taught with a private teaching company serving the learning disabled and adult illiterate, worked in a bakery, and eventually, went back to school at UC Berkeley where I earned my MA in Education, focusing on the relationship between academic education and athletics. I joined the SCU athletic department in May, 2007, where I manage academic resources for student athletes. Sport can be a space for spiritual clarity and as such I am passionate about the role of athletics within education. I am likewise passionate about all spaces, practices, ideas, etc., that invite us to see ourselves and our lives with clarity. |
