Symposia/Workshops
AKD Chapters are
invited to submit proposals for sociological symposia or
workshops. The United Chapters of Alpha Kappa Delta will provide
as much as $1,000.00 in support for sociological research symposia or
workshops sponsored by AKD chapters. Two or more chapters may
work cooperatively to submit one proposal. The AKD Symposium
Review Committee will determine amounts of support. AKD will notify applicants no later than one week after the deadline. Early submission is encouraged as funds are limited.
Application Guidelines (application is located at the bottom of the page) 1. Applications must be from sociology faculty members who are serving as AKD Chapter Representatives and active members of the Society. 2. Symposium/Workshop events must be completed before June 30, 2012. 3. The total length of the application, including attachments, must not exceed three typed pages. 4. To receive favorable consideration, applications should be clear on the following points. a. Purposes, themes, events, and participants. b. Research component. c. Student involvement and student benefits. d. Budget. 5. Send one electronic copy of the application to AKD@lemoyne.edu. Do not send a print copy. Submissions will be acknowledged via electronic mail. For information about the availability of funds and the review process e-mail AKD@lemoyne.edu or call the office of AKD at 315-445-5452. ACKNOWLEDGMENT 1. The office staff will reply to
the emailed request indicating receipt.
2. The Executive Director will send
an email to the Chapter Representative approving or denying an award of student
travel support no later than one week after the deadline.
If the request is approved, an AKD Student Travel Payment Voucher will be
attached.
When documentation of the event is received in the AKD Office, a check will be cut. Please allow up to 4 weeks for the check to be cut and arrive. No funds will be paid without complete documentation. Completed vouchers must be received in the AKD Office no more than 30 days after the initiation ceremony. 6.
