How to Apply for Employer Identification Number & File IRS Form 990-N Per new federal regulations, ALL local chapters of AKD MUST get a federal employer identification number (EIN) and file the 990-N e-Postcard annually. If we do not comply with this regulation, the tax-exempt status of the entire AKD operation will be compromised.
We have created step-by-step instuctions on how to apply for your chapter's EIN as well as where to find the online 990-N e-Postcard.
We have attached this information below. Chapter Representatives should have received a postcard mailing from AKD alerting them that this information is now available.
Please note that while application for your chapter's EIN is a one-time process, each chapter must file the 990-N ePostcard with the IRS every year.
The AKD National Office is requesting that all Chapter Reps obtain an EIN for their chapter by April 30, 2009.
Note: Please see the attachments below. NEW! PLEASE NOTE THAT CHAPTERS SHOULD NOT FILE THEIR 990-N E-POSTCARDS UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE FROM THE AKD NATIONAL OFFICE. Once all chapters have obtained their EINs and sent them to the AKD National Office, we will apply for a group exemption with the IRS. When this is completed, we will alert chapter reps so they can file their chapter's 990-N e-Postcard for Year Ending June 30, 2008. NEW! Please read attached letter from AKD President Dr. Meg Wilkes Karraker, which addresses the new IRS requirement and it's effect on AKD chapters.
