ASA Section on Teaching and Learning Pre-Conference Workshop

Alpha Kappa Delta is pleased to invite applicants for a new program that supports AKD members who wish to attend the ASA Section on Teaching and Learning’s pre-conference workshop. The workshop will be held August 16, 2012, the day before the ASA Annual Meeting. The award covers up to $1,000 in travel expenses; a maximum of five awards will be made.  

This award is intended to advance the quality of teaching in the discipline of sociology. It is available to AKD members only and the selection committee will give the highest priority to AKD chapter representatives, especially those who are early in their careers (i.e., untenured assistant professors).  Graduate students who are ABD and within a year of entering the job market are encouraged to apply as well.

SUBMISSION
Please submit your completed application in WORD FORMAT as an email attachment to AKD@lemoyne.edu

NOTE: You may apply for funding through both Alpha Kappa Delta and SAGE/Pine Forge; however, you may only receive funding from one organization.

NOTIFICATION
Final selections will be made on March 1, 2012 and everyone will be notified of the committee's selection no later than a week after that date.

AWARDEES
Winners will be required to join the ASA section on Teaching and Learning

FINAL SUBMISSION
Awardees are to submit a short paper (in digital format) after the meeting describing the benefits of the participation, along with a travel voucher provided by the AKD Office.  Original receipts must be included with the travel voucher.

When documentation is received in the AKD Office, a check will be cut.  Please allow up to 4 weeks for the check to be cut and arrive.  No funds will be paid without complete documentation.  Completed vouchers must be received in the AKD Office no more than 30 days after the travel date.
