We plan to escort our group on this cruise. There will be much to see and do during our amazing 12 day adventure. Read on for the highlights of things we will see and do along our journey. London/Southampton One of the world's most famed ports, Southampton served as the launching point of the Mayflower and the Titanic. Today, it's one of the busiest passenger ports and home to a waterfront dotted with restaurants, shops and curios. Sightseeing tours in London will include seeing the Tower of London, Big Ben, Parliament, Westminster Abbey, Hyde Park, Piccadilly Circus, Trafalgar Square and Buckingham Palace. Visit beautiful St. Paul's Cathedral, site of many great events, including Sir Winston Churchill's funeral in 1965 and the wedding of Charles and Diana in 1981. Explore the famous Tower of London, built in 1066 as a fortress to guard the entrance to London. Today it is home to the Crown Jewels and other precious objects. The Tower is guarded by the famous Yeoman Warders, better known as Beefeaters. Go shopping in London at world-famous Harrods department store and explore their awe-inspiring food hall. Visit London's world-famous Victoria and Albert Museum, with seven miles of galleries on four floors. Explore Covent Garden in London, full of open-air cafés, stylish boutiques, and lively street entertainers. The famous Punch and Judy puppet show has been performed here since the 1600s. And of course no visit would be the same without a visit to Stonehenge a wonderous and mystical circle of massive stones dating from the Bronze Age, whose axis is aligned with the sunrise on the longest day of the year.
Guernsey the second largest of the Channel Islands, lying just eight miles off the coast of France, offers breathtaking scenery and a peaceful, unspoiled ambience. Between the wide, sandy beaches to the north and the rocky cliffs in the south are wooded valleys, marshland and winding country lanes. Visit the Little Chapel set in the quiet countryside and along a tree-lined path, a church in miniature scale resides, measuring a mere 19 by 15 feet in size. A drive out of St.Peter Port and cross the island to its dramatic western coast. Here rocky cliffs alternate with stretches of beach. Cross the island's centre and pass the greenhouses that produce Guernsey's major agricultural exports: carnations and cut flowers and tomatoes. View scenic villages, stone built farmhouses and picturesque narrow country lanes.
Cork The magnificent Cobh Harbor is just a short drive from Cork. An enchanting place, the main district of Cork sits on an island formed by the diverging channels of the River Lee. The city itself is filled with a multitude of picturesque quays and bridges. Cork is the ideal spot to outfit yourself with Irish tweeds, kiss the Blarney Stone or simply relax and enjoy the charming countryside. Visit City Market, also known as the English Market is a must. Dating back to 1610, the Market provides a colorful insight into local tradition and culture.Explore Muckross House and Gardens, an 1843 Elizabethan-style home set in a beautiful national park. Learn about the folklore of County Kerry in the 19th and 20th centuries, and see skilled craftspeople carrying on the traditional work of their predecessors. Travel through the Derrynasaggart Mountains toward the Killarney National Park, where the famous lakes and tree-lined shores shimmer against a backdrop of mountain peaks. Stop in an Irish pub and hear the latest gossip over an Irish beer or whisky. The locals will love chatting with you.
Dublin is a thriving modern city. Yet it is also remarkably elegant. This is due in part to the restoration of its magnificent public buildings and distinctive Georgian squares to reveal the elegance of the 18th century to today's visitors. Dublin's people are renowned for being warm, friendly and eager to help visitors enjoy their home city. For a closer look at Ireland's most famous export, visit Irish Whiskey Corner. This 90-year-old warehouse flat has been converted into a museum, featuring a presentation about the making of Irish Whiskey. Visitors receive a complimentary tasting. Visit St. Patrick's Cathedral, said to have been the site where St. Patrick baptized converts in 450 A.D. A visit to the National National Gallery, home to more than 2,000 exhibits, including a major collection of Irish landscape paintings. Then go back in time at the Dubliana exhibit, featuring a historical portrayal of life in Dublin during the medieval period from 1170 to 1540, including a scale model of Dublin in the 1500s.
Liverpool is home of the Beatles. here you can visit the Beatles Shop, Matthew Street Gallery, Cavern Pub, and the Beatles Story exhibition at Albert Dock. In the afternoon, you'll enjoy the Magical Mystery Tour, seeing over 30 Beatles sites. Be sure top take a ride on the steam train. Liverpool Museums and Art gallery are based at William Brown Street and can supply you with hours of enjoyment. You can visit the famous Adelphi Hotel - an ideal stop to take a break, have a spot of tea and enjoy the surroundings. The Metropolitan Cathedral, and the Anglican Cathedral are both landmarks not to be missed.
Belfast Northern Ireland is steeped in rich beautiful landscape and history. A Panoramic Tour Panoramic Tour will take you to the Ulster Transport Museum, Botanic Garden, the Murals and Crown Liquor Saloon. The Crown Liquor Saloon is one of the world's most famous surviving Victorian pubs, now owned by the National Trust. While in Belfast take a tour of the Giants Causeway to view the remarkable rock formations. The lunar landscape of the Giant's Causeway is a World Heritage Site-the basalt columns packed tightly together have made the Giant's Causeway the subject of numerous legends. Altogether there are 40,000 of these hexagonal stone columns and the tallest are about 40 feet high.
Glasgow Scotland history goes back to the 6th century. Glasgow Cathedral was built in 1195 and survives today. Glasgow's shipyards have produced such fine ships as the Cunard "Queens". It is the largest city in Scotland. You visit the Burrell Art Gallery and Museum, containing the some of the finest collections in the UK. Discover the main attractions of Glasgow including George Square with its Victorian City Chambers. See the Museum of Transportation.
Inverness Scotland Braveheart Country and homeof the legend and lore of Loch Ness. See Inverness Castle that dates from the 19th-century but a series of castles have occupied the site since the Middle Ages. Then visit the jagged ruins of Urquhart Castle and stand next to the dark waters of Loch Ness. All that remains are crumbling walls of the castle, but legends persist that a cave beneath the castle is the home of legendary monster Nessie. The Loch itself is 24 miles long, a mile wide and 740-feet deep. The path leading to Urquhart Castle affords superb views of the ruins and the Loch.
Edinburgh Scotland called the The "City of Princes". Take a drive along Princes Street and through the 200-year-old New Town. See the medieval section of the city and visit Edinburgh Castle which dominates the city center and contains many interesting exhibits. See the"Royal Mile", from Edinburgh Castle, high atop Edinburgh Rock, to the Palace of Holyroodhouse. Edinburgh Castle dominates the city. The oldest part is St. Margaret's Chapel of 1076. Wander through Mary, Queen of Scots' apartments. Holyroodhouse is the formal home of the Royal Family in Scotland. Another must visit on your stop in Edinburgh is the Roslyn Chapel.
LaHavre/Paris Paris is a beautiful, artistic city that lies on both banks of the River Seine. The north bank was historically the area where Royalty and the wealthy merchant-class lived, and today it is the government and commercial district. While the south bank, with its image of an intellectual and bohemian playground, is the site where the university was founded. Paris and the Eiffel Tower are synonymous. You see it from almost everywhere in the city. But don't miss the chance to go to the top. The view is breathtaking. A must is a visit to the Louvre. This fabulous, maze-like museum is home to one of the greatest art collections in the world, including the Mona Lisa. Travel down the Seine in the shadow of the Notre Dame Cathedral. This famous cathedral is a beautiful example of gothic architecture and is where Napoleon and Josephine were crowned in 1804. Stroll along the Champs Élysées, stopping in some of the world's finest shops. Visit the Arc de Triomphe, built in 1806 to commemorate Napoleon's victories. The possibilities are endless when you vist this beautiful City Of Lights.
