How To Pray

How To Pray
With our hearts.  We don't need to learn how to pray.
We are hardwired to pray after all God created us in his own image.
We pray and over time we get better at it.

Think about it, all those people in the Old Testament didn't have a video or website on how to pray.
THEY JUST DID IT!  (Don't let your worries get the best of you; remember,
Moses started out as a basket case.
)

We need to have faith that God will hear us.  How do we know he will?  The bible tells us.

1 John 5:14-15  (NIV)
14 This is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything according to his will, he hears us
15 And if we know that he hears us— whatever we ask— we know that we have what we asked of him.

God also tells us how to pray in many places in the bible.
Matthew 6:5-13 also tells us how not to pray.

Matthew 6:5-13 (NIV)
5 And when you pray, do not be like the hypocrites, for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and on the street corners to be seen by men. I tell you the truth, they have received their reward in full.  6 But when you pray, go into your room, close the door and pray to your Father, who is unseen. Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you.  7 And when you pray, do not keep on babbling like pagans, for they think they will be heard because of their many words.  8 Do not be like them, for your Father knows what you need before you ask him.

9 This, then, is how you should pray:

'Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name,
10
your kingdom come, your will be done on earth as it is in heaven.
11
Give us today our daily bread.
12
Forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors.
13 And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one.'
