The Allohak District Staff and Job Descriptions

lThe Allohak district staff is tasked with seeing to the needs of the district.  Some of those needs are individual to specific units, like a unit with brand new leadership and some help many units enjoy the programs, such as roundtable or a camporee.  The district staff also helps to carry out needs of the council such as fundraising or implementing a new policy.  The district staff is divided into three parts: district executives who are professionals and two other parts that are much like units.  The district committee and the district commissioners, who are in fact, the direct contact leaders of the district.
The district committee meets on the second Thursday of each month.  This meeting is typically attended by the "key three" of the district as well as chairs of each of the district subcommittees.   Those subcommittees are typically membership, finance, training, camping, activities & civic service and advancement although there can be others as necessary.  As BSA literature and training points out, the district is most effective when the chairs of the subcommittee are administrators who can plan programs, direct people and have contacts in the community.  These are professionals and business people in the community (perhaps with a scouting background) where they can gather help from outside scouting such as money, material and other such things.  These chairpeople must understand the program but perhaps not in the detail their committee members do.

The sub-committee members perform the actual duties of the subcommittee.  These people are currently or recently units and have detailed knowledge and recent experience to communicate information to units and needs the chair; they are the trainers, pinewood derby chairs, judges, school night presenters.
