New to Scouting Leadership?  All unit adult leader positions have "Fast Start" training that should be take prior to meeting with youth.  These 30-40 minute courses will get you enough basics to get started safely.  The Fast Start courses are then followed up with Position Specific Training (this varies greatly by position), "This Is Scouting", and Youth Protection to complete basic training.  See the information below for BSa Online Training.

Learn the signs of, and what steps to take during hazard weather on your outings  
 Online  Safety Afloat Learn how to take scouts safely on a boating activity  Required for any boating activity   
 Online Safe Swim Defense  Learn the procedures for running a safe swim area.  Also how to map out a safe area.  Life guards are also required (see G2SS) Required for any unit swim activity, even with professional life guard

Troop Leader Training

Intended to be held by the Scoutmaster, SPL and other troop leaders to teach boys to do their new job in the troop and how to be good leaders in general.  Syallbus is sold by BSA stores and a powerpoint show is available on national website.  Let the district know if we can help. Cub Scout Position Specific Training - Required Basic Trg 

 Learn what cub scouting is all about from the leader side.  Then break out into sessions for each individual position in the pack.  Cubmaster, Webelos Leader, Den Leader, Tiger Leader, Pack Trainer, Committee Member Retake breakout session only when position changes.  
 Oct  17-18, 2009 Outdoor Skills for Webelos Leaders Learn how to present an outdoors program specifically for Webelos Scouts, different from Cub Scouts and prepare them for transition to Boy Scouts  Take once, best during spring before becoming Weblelos Den Leader

Troop Committee Challenge    

 Position Specific Training for Troop Committee Members.  Learn how to be the troop's Board of Directors and take a load off your scoutmaster. Once when taking a troop committee position
  ScoutMaster Leader Specific Training.  Required as basic training for SM Focuses on how a Boy-led, Boy-run Troop is organized and managed; the way B-P intended.  Also scheduling and planning.  Once when taking SM or ASM postion
 

Introduction to Outdoor Leader Skills.  Required as basic training for SM & ASM

Form up in a patrol and experience learning the skills to become a First Class Scout, the way boy do.  What better way to understand howthese skills are to be taught?  Once when taking SM or ASM position

Online training

Online training can be found at www.olc.scouting.org.  However, you will be prompted to create and sign into your "myscouting" account.  This is how your training is applied to your BSA membership and you get credit applied.  If you do not know your membership number you can still create the account, however credit for the courses will be applied manually and you will need to submit the certificate you get online to council, or it may be easier to retake the course once your membership is linked.

Troop Committee Training
Troop committee chairmen and Scoutmasters, if you don't already know,Troop Committee Challenge is available online at www.olc.scouting.org (also linked on the main
"Training" page of www.boyscouting.com) ! However, if your commitee would like a more interactive and trainer-led session with your entire commitee in one room...we can do that! Please contact Henry Landry at 813-929-0163, hlandry@ieee.org  and we can arrange a session. The training course is about 3 hours long.
