A Word from District Executive, Stephen Kubasek
November 1, 2009 Allohak Scouters, This past weekend I camped out with many of you at McGregor Smith Scout Reservation, and I thoroughly enjoyed the experience! I must admit that it has been a little over a year since I actually camped out in a tent! This only makes me look forward to the Camp-o-Ree this coming December even more. In speaking with many of the Allohak Cub Scout Leaders, I heard that for several of our Scouts, this was their first camping experience. Those boys that signed up during round-up nights in September were already out and enjoying the Scouting Program. This is something for all of us to be proud of. It’s our shared responsibility to work hard to make sure that those boys all have the opportunity to go camping, hiking, fishing, swimming and advance through the ranks. I wonder how many of these new Scouts will go on to become Boy Scouts and eventually reach the coveted rank of Eagle? YIS, Stephen B. Kubasek ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- October 1, 2009 My Fellow Allohak Scouters, Over the course of the last 7 months I’ve learned a great deal from you all and I am proud to say that I’ve made many new friendships as well. I feel very proud and blessed to be a part of this district and I look forward to staying here for quite a while and continuing to work with you all. The month of September has been a whirlwind of a month for me! For any of you who have been involved as Cub Scout leaders, you know exactly what I’m speaking about… the annual Fall Cub Scout Recruitment. I’m proud to report that at the current moment we have already welcomed in over 300 new Cub Scouts into the district. Last year we only welcomed in 243 new members (Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts, & Venturers) during the entire fall season. With 6 schools still left to recruit out of, it’s very possible that we’ll hit the 400 new member mark. Now the important part is for us to work hard as a district to retain these new members. Keeping our new members active and engaged in the program is just as important as signing them up as new members. Any of you who were at the Council Coordinated Meeting on August 29th saw the unveiling of a new plan to enhance the Cub Scout program. This is going to be a key component for us to keep our new members active, and it’s something I look forward to learning and helping to train our leaders in. YIS, Stephen B. Kubasek |
