On Saturday, August 15, I attended the Gulf Ridge Council Executive Board Retreat. And on Saturday, August 29, I attended the Council Coordinated Training held at Saint Leo University. At both of these events I had the opportunity to listen to George McGovern, Council Executive talk about the future of our Council. He discussed the business plan, manpower, marketing, program, finance, unit service, and membership. I was impressed with his strategic thinking and expertise for Scouting. I am excited to be a part of a Council with this passionate leader.

As all of you are aware, we are in the midst of a very busy fall with fall roundup, spook-o-rees, Vegas Night, Dodgeball, Eagle Scout Receptions, Merit Badge Academy, Council Camporee, and the start of our Friends of Scouting Campaign for 2010. I want to thank all of you for all that you are doing for our Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts, Venturers, and Explorers.
