ALLI'S HONORS RESEARCH
Interests
I think psychology is very interesting. I like just about every field within psychology. I also like biology. Evolutionary Psych is super interesting to me because it encompasses so many different types of psychology and some biology too. I hope that through my experience working in Dr. Buss's Evolutionary Psych lab I can get a good idea of what it is I want to study in grad school.
Other things I like are mountains, beaches, animals, people, talking, traveling, and the guitar.
My plans for my honors thesis are still under construction, but I sure hope to have them all figured out soon. As of now, I am focusing on personality research within an evolutionary psychological perspective, specifically in relation to one's perceived mate value. We'll see how it goes.
I just started working in Dr. David Buss's Evolutionary Psychology Lab with graduate student David Lewis. So far, I think everything we do in the lab is pretty cool. I think I'll learn quite a bit through this experience.
Spring 2008-Summer 2008 I worked in Dr. Christopher Beever's Mood Disorders Lab as an RA. I conducted phone interviews with potential participants to screen for depression as well as other mental disorders.
Spring 2006-Fall 2006 I worked in Dr. Michael Telch's Anxiety Lab with graduate student, Hanjoo Lee. I began working as an RA is his study that examined inattentional blindness and anxiety. I ran participants and worked on data entry. That summer I began working as an RA trainer for another study that examined OCD. In that position, I taught RA's how to run the experiment and coordinated the RA schedule.
