Second year project - a kindergarten. I created hanging models to capture the shape of catenary curves, inspired by Antonin Gaudi. Process: cut strings to appropriate length, hang upside-down (curves in perfect tension), dip in plaster, cure, turn over and voila(1): curves in perfect compression.
And later I got carried away and modeled the gullet of a cow (there was a herd outside our studio and they do have beautiful hanging shapes, necks in tension...)
