My xmas present - a Yashica 35 - went home to its dealer for being dead on arrival. After some unfortunate tries to revive the thing, they send me this. A Canon Canonet G-III ql with a 40mm f1.7 lense. Poor man's Leica. Finally, mine mine mine. The best of the bunch, my first Canon ever and surely one of the most beautiful cameras I ever had in my hand. Bad: It came without the lense cap (6 Euros!) Had to use a screwdriver for a first "repair" of the back door that opened itself while a film was in. It sure had some history, the dents on the top could have been from war photography. And no light seals. Somedody removed them and didn't bother putting new ones in. Thanks, how am I suppose to get that fixed? I have no idea whether it works. It seems to measure accurately enough - despite using the wrong batteries now, the mercury originals are long out of stock. I checked it against my Fuji F31fd, and it was off only half of a stop - no problem in practice. Controls are a bit stiff. I think I am in love. Update: works even without the seals.
