In July of 2008, construction of the Allen Event Center began along the southeast corner of US 75 and Stacy Road inside the Village at Allen shopping district. Upon its completion in late 2009, the venue will total 188,000 square feet with capacity for 8,600 seats (6,275 fixed), 26 suites and two ice rinks. The project is among the first in the Collin County area in that marks a joint venture between Global Entertainment Corporation, The MGHerring Group and the City of Allen. The center will serve home to concerts, trade shows, professional sporting events, festivals, community ceremonies and a Central Hockey League (CHL) franchise.

Global Entertainment venues around the country feature concerts with nationally known recording artists such as Don Henley, James Blunt, Stevie Nicks, Kenny Loggins, Willie Nelson, Maroon 5, Brooks and Dunn and The Fray. Final Beam Signed, Hockey Team Named
On Thursday, April 24, an estimated 2,500 guests stopped by the Allen Event Center construction site to sign a steel beam that became a permanent fixture within the building. Representatives from Top Shelf, LLC, the ownership company for Allen’s newly announced Central Hockey League (CHL) franchise, were also on hand to unveil the team name during the event. The new CHL franchise is a Minor League affiliate of the Dallas Stars and is named the Allen Americans.

Allen Eagles Hockey Take High School State Title
On Sunday, April 19, the Allen Eagles took to the ice on a quest to bring home the second state Varsity Gold hockey title in 3 years. When the weekend was over the team held the Texas Cup high at center ice inside the Chaparral Ice complex in Austin, Texas.

CHL Team Ownership Announced
The Allen Event Center will be the home for a new Central Hockey League (CHL) team for the 2009-10 season following the recent approval from the Allen City Council on the team’s lease. Ownership of the CHL team has been awarded to Top Shelf, LLC.

ViewPoint Bank Named “Official Bank” of Allen Event Center
Global Entertainment has chosen ViewPoint Bank to be the “official bank” of the highly anticipated Allen Event Center, opening fall 2009 at the Village at Allen. Global Entertainment is operating and managing the $52.6 million center for the City of Allen.
