I know I'm WAY late to this party but here you go - Which holidays do you celebrate, if any? Christmas, New Years – It’s not a religious thing for me, it’s more about family and food. What is your favorite holiday tradition? Making 3 day lasagna with my mom. Day 1 – make the hundreds of teeny meatballs, Day 2 – Make the vats of gravy and let the meatballs soak some of it up (we call it gravy and that is that), Day 3 – assemble and enjoy. I also really enjoy driving around and looking at outrageous holiday lights. For New Year's, are you a party animal or quiet night at home type? I am totally a quiet night at home kind of gal. I usually stay up for my midnight kiss and then I’m off to sleep. What drives you banana hammocks about the holidays? Tempting foods? Relatives? Shopping? I despise holiday shopping but mainly because I am WAY last minute with it. I have, and will probably do it again, shopped for Christmas gifts on December 23rd and 24th. I’d love to do all my shopping online, but since I’m so last minute I always have to brave the stores. What's your "comfort" when getting "through" the holiday season? Crafting? Eating? Drinking? :o) umm – all of the above! I do tend to eat a lot of chocolate around the holidays and I don’t even care – until January of course. I always try and find a few restful moments in all the insanity to sit down and craft. I’m not a big drinker but I enjoy new years champagne if we have it. Holiday foods you like – I love coquito (kind of like Puerto Rican egg nog). It’s coconutty and delicious. Of course anything chocolate as long as it isn’t paired with a jellied fruit (chocolate covered strawberries are perfectly fine). Really you can’t go wrong with most holiday food, it is all so good. I love chocolate covered toffee like whoa. Holiday foods you despise – Anything with Jello, I can’t stand that jiggly nasty stuff. Just thinking about it makes me queasy. This isn’t holiday food but I HATE violets, the candy, they smell like someone is eating dish soap - blech. Foods you can't eat (allergies, etc.) Allergy free - yay Favorite yarn(s)? Oh jeeze, I don’t really have a favorite but I don’t do lace with lace weight – it’s too tangly. I have princess skin so anything soft works but not itchy like angora or mohair. I am a big sock and accessory knitter – I’ve been into slightly thicker socks lately. Crafty pursuits - knit, crochet, spin, sew, quilt, any of these or others? All of the above. I also make jewelry. Hobbies/pursuits/proclivities/passions (other than the aforementioned crafty ones, obviously) In addition to the craft stuff I sing opera – dramatic mezzo over here. I like to pretend I’m a good cook. Canning is a newfound hobby (Courtney disapproves cause it creates too many dishes for her to wash and she doesn’t even like jam). I love to read, mainly dorky fantasy novels – and by fantasy I mean sorceresses, sword wielding dudes, and an elf or two. What do you do in life? (job, career, school, family, etc.) I’m a paralegal for the MAN but really that is just so boring…the crafty stuff is so much better. I’ve been dyeing yarn as Brooklyn Handspun for 5 or 6 years now. Random favorites -- books, movies, tv, genres, ice cream flavors, time of day, etc. -I don’t have a favorite book but I adore Phillip Pullman - His Dark Materials -A chesetastic movie I can’t help but watching when I channel surf is The Fifth Element -Ice cream mmm any chocolate with nuts or salted caramel or dulce de leche or chocolate hazelnut gelato or really? Do I need to go on – I think you get it. -I used to be a sunset girl but with my new schedule I am enjoying a lot more sunrises. -I’m a swirl fanatic – I’ll like anything swirly. -I also am a big fan of trees, my wedding had a tree theme. If you combine swirls and trees I might faint. I LOVE Klimt’s tree of life. -Any adorable forest creature on fabric will make my day.
