What we are Learning

Classroom Guidelines:

    1. Be a good listener & do not interrupt others .

    2. Follow directions the first time they are given.

    3. Walk quietly in the classroom and hallways.

    4. Treat others with respect.

    5. Use an “inside” voice while working in the classroom.

In our classroom, students are expected to be respectful, caring, and responsible.  We will learn the wonderful kindergarten signal "Give Me Five."  This means that when students hear a teacher say "Give Me Five" they freeze.  Their eyes, hands, body, ears, and mouth need to be facing the teacher and they should be listening.  We will work on this signal our first couple weeks of school.

To ensure that every child has a positive learning experience we have a classroom management plan which includes a color coded system and a calendar that will be kept in your child’s binder to inform you of their daily progress.

Each student has a pocket envelope with his or her name on it.  In this pocket envelope are four colored cards: green, yellow, red, and blue.  Everyday each student begins on green. Kindergartners making good choices will stay on green.  Students that are not making good choices or following our classroom guidelines must pull their card to a new color.

    First Warning: A Verbal Warning

Second Warning:  The student will pull their card to yellow and must think about their behavior.

Third Warning:  The student will pull their card to red and a note will be send home for parents to sign and return.  The student will also loose five minutes of recess.

Fourth Warning:  The student will pull their card to blue and parents will be notified by phone.  The student will lose special privileges, such as free time choices.
