About Us

Al-Ihsan Academy is committed to offering a rigorous academic program which includes instruction assessment in the Michigan core curriculum in addition to Islamic studies and Quran. In addition the Academy offers a progressive Arabic language program based upon National Foreign Language standards. Our staff is an exceptional group of highly qualified professional Muslim educators dedicated to helping each individual child reach his/her academic potential, developing a mature Islamic personality, and attaining a healthy lifestyle .

Students begin each day in assembly where they are taught Quran, the morning duaa's and hadith. In addition, students congregate daily for the Dhur prayer and weekly for the Jumaa prayer and special, youth oriented khutba. Twelve noble characteristics of the Prophet (SAW) are taught and their application is reinforced through the compliment box as students "catch" a fellow classmate exhibiting a characteristic and write an anonymous compliment card for that action.

This activity is one example of our effort to build a strong moral foundation in our youth.

Al-Ihsan Academy was founded by the Board of Trustees of the Islamic Center of  Detroit in the summer of 2005 and established as a non-profit, full-time Islamic School.  The school currently serves students from pre-school through grade eight, and has plans, inshallah, to grow and expand to eventually serve students to grade twelve.

We are located inside of the Islamic Center of Detroit. In addition to twelve  classrooms, we currently have offices, a cafeteria/gymnasium, an assembly hall, a  computer/media center, an outdoor playground, a Women’s Prayer Hall, and Men’s  Prayer Hall.  A library facility is under construction.

Al-Ihsan Academy is dedicated to pursuing academic excellence and promotion of a strong Islamic identity through the internalization of the teachings of our Noble  Prophet and the application of Islamic principles in daily life.

 Belief Statement

It is our belief that a God-centered atmosphere and curriculum are absolutely  essential components of a well rounded education and should be delivered in a safe,  nurturing environment.

Vision

Our vision is to mold our students into knowledgeable, spiritually centered, and responsible world citizens prepared for adult life in a global community. We envisage the transformation of  each child into a fully developed human being who is literate, not only intellectually,  but spiritually, morally, physically, interpersonally, culturally, and socially through a  holistic education.
