These dolls are called "Izzy Dolls". I'm so proud to brag that my mother has knit hundreds of these. This is just part of her latest "batch". The hand-knit dolls were created after Canadian Forces Master Cpl. Mark Isfeld made a request to his mother, Carol, to create dolls for children in war-torn countries. The name “Izzy” spawned from the nickname Isfeld’s friends used for him. Isfeld’s mother began knitting dolls small enough to fit in a uniform pocket, which would later redistribute to children he came across during his patrol duties. The movement has now spread across the country, and these dolls bring great happiness to many children around the world. Notice how my mother has intentionally knit toys for all races.
